# sig

**analysis · global: `sig`**

Byte-pattern signatures (pattern scanning) — the most common way to locate code that survives game updates.

Patterns use `?` as a byte wildcard (both `"48 8B ? ? 90"` and `"488B????90"` work — spaces are optional).

### `sig.scan(pattern [, module]) -> addr | nil`

Searches for the pattern. Without `module`, scans every loaded module until the first match; with `module` (name, e.g. `"client.dll"`), restricts the search to it.

local addr = sig.scan("48 8B 05 ? ? ? ? 48 8B 88", "engine.dll")
```

### `sig.scan_all(pattern) -> [addr]`

Like `sig.scan`, but returns **every** match across every module — useful to validate that a pattern is unique before relying on it.

### `sig.create(addr, len) -> pattern`

Automatically generates a signature pattern from the `len` bytes at `addr` (a simple heuristic that wildcards the bytes most likely to vary between builds — offsets, immediates).

local pat = sig.create(known_addr, 32)
print(pat)
-- sanity check: sig.scan(pat) should come back at known_addr
```
